Da Brothas Week 2 Wrap Up | Fantasy Football Special Edition

At the request of Da Brothas fantasy football league commissioner, Aaron Spence, I’m writing a special article for the league’s Week 2 “Wrap Up” recap. There are some pretty solid teams in that league (including mine), but we’ll see how the league shakes out after everything that happened during Week 2.

Week 2 Wrap Up, The Phinest Way

“Any Given Sunday” Puts The Belt On “The Hurts Locker”

Any Given Sunday beat the brakes off of The Hurts Locker in their Week 2 matchup. But it’s not hard to do when you have Bills QB Josh Allen as your starting quarterback. Allen went on a rampage in Week 2’s game against the Detroit Lions for five total touchdowns, scoring 40.8 fantasy points and finishing as the QB1 for Week 2.

Meanwhile, The Hurts Locker had a few players that decided to take the game off. Colts wide receiver Alec Pierce left Week 2’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs with a heel injury and Drake London had Cooper Rush throwing to him. Remember when folks were saying that Cooper Rush should have started over Dak Prescott? Good times.

THL should have been reading the Starts, Sits article from the Fantasy’s Phinest. That way he would have known to take Drake London out of his lineup for a better option. But hey, everyone can’t be helped. The final score: AGS – 125.92 to 103. 38 for THL.

“Raging Rhynos” Rolls Out On “Optimus Prime” For The Win

Apparently, Raging Rhynos has had an issue when it comes to winning games against Optimus Prime. RR’s manager Jamar finally got his revenge in this matchup, though. Raging Rhynos made easy work of Jaquon’s Optimus Prime team, with Ceedee Lamb hosing down OP’s squad with 153 yards and two touchdowns for 27.8 fantasy points.

Jaquon has to be smarter if he wants to make it to the fantasy playoffs in this league. He left Brock Purdy on the bench for Jalen Hurts and watched 32.48 points sit on the bench. He also left another 14.8 fantasy points on the bench in Rashod Bateman, who filled in for Zay Flowers, who missed Week 2 with a hamstring injury. Another person who should have tapped in with the Fantasy’s Phinest.

Final score of this beatdown: 103.88 to 71.06

“Tagus Loop Gorillas” Goes Ape On “Annihilators”

Tagus Loop Gorillas managed to get one over on Annihilators in the game. TLG’s manager LBN set a solid lineup with four players in his lineup hitting double-digit fantasy points, one of which was his kicker dropping 15 fantasy points. Fred’s “Annihilators” tried to put up a fight but didn’t get much help from his heavy hitters.

On top of that, Fred ended up losing his starting quarterback, Caleb Williams, to a hamstring injury. Williams is currently being listed as “week-to-week” but is already ruled OUT for Week 3. Fred will have some shuffling to do at the quarterback position in order to stay afloat and competitive in this league.

Final score: 103.8 to 89.72

“Wakanda Marauders” Cools Off “Cool Runnings”

Good lord! This was one of the biggest beatdowns in the league from Week 2. Wakanda Marauders got a big boost from four players in double figures. He especially got a huge lift from Seahawks WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba (33.5 fantasy points) and Panthers QB Bryce Young (30 fantasy points). I should have invested in more shares of JSN myself because he is becoming quarterback proof right before our eyes.

CR actually had a good fight in his team. They just couldn’t hang with the kind of firepower the Marauders had at their disposal. Javonte Williams did his team no favors, scoring just five fantasy points. And whoever told him it was a good idea to start Alvin Kamara (just two fantasy points) is a bad friend.

Final score: 121.48 to 77.98

“Apex Predators” Beats Down “Big Eagles Fan”

These two teams make up the “Shadow Realm Games” (patent pending), as these two teams were the worst-scoring teams for Week 2 in Da Brothas league. Neither team scored more than 70 points in the matchup. Both teams have good players on their team, but it looks like no one came to play. Predators manager Rob Pompey had Kenny Walker come to play with a 17.8 fantasy-point game. But not much else from the other players on their roster.

Big Ron, owner of Big Eagles Fan (and the guy I smoked for a fantasy championship a few seasons ago), players went on vacation. I hope they do that again when he plays me. Saquon Barkley, Tee Higgins, Dallas Goedert, and D’Andre Swift all scored under 10 fantasy points for Week 2 and sunk Ron’s team.

Final score: 68.42 to 59.7

“Big LITTLE Dogs” Gets By “Fantasy’s Phinest” Due To Big Injury

Here’s the main event for Week 2 in Da Brothas. Aaron’s Little Dog team was on the verge of taking an L after my Davanta Adams (31.5 fantasy points) and Jahmyr Gibbs (17.3 fantasy points) kept me in the game. But losing Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart early in his game against the Los Angeles Rams didn’t help things.

With Dart going down (and scoring 0.8 points), the fight was over. Aaron’s squad had some fighters in it too. Matthew Stafford and Jonathan Taylor combined for 60 points. Aaron got off with a break this time around, so he’s been a little chatty in the league chats. It’s a bit out of character for him because he’s been quiet for a while since I won two league championships on his watch.

Aaron got this round, but I plan on getting into position to win another fantasy championship in this league. That will keep him quiet for another two years.
