Fantasy managers have been going through the waiver wire like a fine-toothed comb. At this point, finding players who can help support fantasy lineups is paramount. Injuries continue to push fantasy managers into darker places this season. Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson (thumb) is expected to miss the rest of the season. Vikings quarterback Kyler Murray is dealing with a hamstring injury, and the Vikings seem poised to call up Carson Wentz. The Cardinals also added rookie running back Jeremyiah Love to IR after he went down against the Dallas Cowboys. So there are plenty of reasons to make a move on the waiver wire for Week 9. Let’s see what we can grab off the wire this week.

Week 9 Priority Waiver Targets

*Roster percentages via ESPN Fantasy

Tyler Allgeier, RB – ARI

With Jeremyiah Love landing on injured reserve (and Bam Knight also banged up), Tyler Allgeier is not only the healthiest running back remaining on the roster, but a back that fantasy managers should be checking waivers to see if he’s still available. Allgeier ran all over the Dallas Cowboys in the fourth quarter, finishing with 147 yards and an RB1 finish for Week 8. Allgeier is rostered at 46% on ESPN fantasy leagues, so make sure to check and see if he’s out there.

Adonai Mitchell, WR – NYJ

Well, guess who’s back! After posting a dud in Week 7, Adonai Mitchell reasserted himself back up the Jets pecking order. Mitchell overtook hot rookie Omar Cooper Jr. (another hot item off the waiver wire last week), finishing with 142 yards and a touchdown on nine targets over the Las Vegas Raiders. Mitchell’s 27.2 fantasy points locked him in as the WR3 for Week 8, and his connection with Geno Smith looks as strong as it has been this season. Rostered at just 11.5%, if you need a WR, Mitchell might be worth the claim.

Sam Darnold, QB – SEA

We may have lost two starting quarterbacks this week with Lamar Jackson and Kyler Murray, as mentioned earlier. Fantasy managers may have to turn to Seattle Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold moving forward. Darnold hasn’t been putting up juggernaut performances like last season, as he’s averaging just over 13 fantasy points per game this season. Darnold did finish with 17.5 fantasy points against the Chicago Bears, throwing two touchdowns and an interception. Darnold gets the Cardinals in Week 9, making him a stronger streaming option if anything. Rostered at just 30% and with a solid matchup on deck, Darnold is worth a look.

Mike Washington Jr., RB – LVR

The Raiders continue to make their backfield interesting, to say the least. Mike Washington Jr. stepped into a more prominent role on the ground against the New York Jets, rushing for 83 yards on a whopping 25 carries. If this is a trend that will continue, or at least have more involvement with Washington seeing more carries and Ashton Jeanty getting more targets, MWJ is a running back that needs to be added from the waiver wire. Mike Washington Jr. is rostered at nearly 18% on ESPN Fantasy leagues. Scoop him up while you can.

Treylon Burks, WR – WAS

The Washington Commanders have asked their wide receivers to step up, and it looks like they are answering the call. Treylon Burks in particular finished the game leading the Commanders’ receivers in receiving yards with 81 yards on five targets. Burks also finished second in snap percentage against the Philadelphia Eagles, just edging out Stefon Diggs 65% to 66.7%. Burks will continue to see work in three-wide receiver sets and would be poised for more work if anything happens to Stefon Diggs or Antonio Williams. Burks is worth a stash as a possible flex option for fantasy managers. Burks is rostered in 7% of ESPN leagues.
